Comparing the SN1 and SN2 Reactions

cats in a basket showing SN1 and SN2 reactions

Illustration by the talented Canadian political cartoonist Graeme Mackay.

The cartoon is taken from the Master Organic Chemistry website. This website tries to make organic chemistry more fun and accessible. It is great for students — and their teachers — studying organic chemistry. Students will appreciate the free “cheat sheets”. The website blog is quite interesting. I found myself thoroughly engaged in reading about “Liquid Gold: Pheromones in doe urine” and “How bleach works: Understanding Colors from nature”.
