Biographical Sketch: Anna Shantz (July 25, 1871-July 29, 1917) was the daughter of John D. Shantz (Oct. 4, 1839-June 13, 1923) and Elizabeth Steiner (Dec. 12, 1840-June 24, 1901). She was born in Wilmot Township, Waterloo County on her father's farm.  On April 8, 1903 she married Albert Habermehl (September 30, 1874-1964). They moved to the St. Jacobs area and later to Conestogo. They had one son and five daughters.

Anna was a member of the Mennonite Church.

Custodial history: Donated to the Mennonite Archives of Ontario by Anna's granddaughter, Verda Cook in April 2000.

Scope and content: The collection is composed of letters she received as a young woman both from her sisters and from friends.
